(2) You can use sort function to sort books by title, author, download date, last read date and rating.
(3) You can also use author list, tag list or collection list to help you find the book more easily.
Back to top(1) Fling: Fling your finger to the left anywhere on the screen to turn to the next page; fling to the right to turn back to the previous pages.
(2) Tap: Tap on the right half of the screen to turn to the next page. Tap on the left half of the screen to turn back to the previous page.
(3) Volume buttons: Press Volume Down to turn to the next page and press Volume Up to turn to the previous page.
All the above can be customized in the Settings menu.
Back to topWhile reading a book, you can adjust the brightness of the display without leaving the page by swiping your figure along the left edge of the screen, this can be configured in the setting.

To open a hyperlink within a book, do a long press on the link or use the trackball. To view an image, do a long press on the image. You can always use the back button on your phone to go back to the area you were reading after viewing a website or an image.

(2) Simply click on the chapter that you would like to go.

(1) Click the Menu button on the phone, select “More”.
(2) Click “Show Progress”, a window will be brought up showing your reading progress throughout the chapter and the book.

(1) Click the Menu button on the phone, select “Search”.
(2) Type in the word that you would like to search.
(3) A list of matches will come up, telling you in which chapters and how many of the matches are found. You can simply click on one of them and go to the text where the match is found.

(1) Click the Menu button, select “More”.
(2) Choose “Dictionary” option.
(3) Type the word that you would like to look up, and select where (dictionary, Google, Wikipedia) you would like to look up the word.

All these can be adjusted in the setting.

Copy your ePub files into the SD card (in the eBooks/import folder). Make sure your ePub file ends with .epub extension. Select the ‘Import’ option on the application’s home screen and follow the import instructions to complete the import process. After the Import process, you book will be located at bookshelf. You can locate it easily by sorting by Download Date. Step by step procedures are as follow:
(1) Connect your phone to your computer with the USB cable.
(2) Pull down the status bar of your phone and then click on USB connected.

(3) A context menu will be brought up, select “Mount” option.

(4) Now go to your computer, you will be either able to see all files in the Removable disk (E:) already or there will be option for you to open folder to view files. For example, a Window like this pops up on my computer for me to open folder to view files.

(5) Look for eBooks folder and open it.

(6) Look for Import folder and open it.
(7) Copy your ePub file(s) into the Import folder, make sure your file(s) end(s) with .epub extension.
(8) Go to your phone now, pull down the status bar of your phone and then click on “Turn off USB storage”.

(9) A context menu will be brought up, select “Turn off” option.

(10) Go to the Home screen of the application, click on “Menu” button of your phone and then select “Import”.

(11) A context menu will be brought up, select “Import” option.

(12) Click “OK” to confirm.

(13) After the import process completes, a context menu will be brought up to notify you. Select “Dismiss”.

Vola! You have just imported your own books into Aldiko. The imported books will be on the bookshelf. To view your imported books, just simply go to bookshelf, click on the Menu button of your phone, select “Sort” and then “By Download Date” option. Your imported books will be displayed on the top of the bookshelf.
Method 2:
Click on any epub link on any webpage and you should be presented with an option to directly download the book to your Aldiko bookshelf. Detailed procedures are as follow:
(1) Click on an epub link of any webpage. For example here, I go to Feedbooks to download the book “Dracula”. I click on the ePub link.
(2) A context menu will be brought up, select “Aldiko”.
(3) Your imported book will be located at the bookshelf of the application.
Back to topAll books, including those you download in the application and those you import into the application, will be saved in SD card in the eBook directory, they will not take up any memory of your phone.
Back to topIf you get such messages as “Unable to open book, check your SD card”, “Books not found, check your SD card”, “Missing SD card” , it may mean (1) you SD card is missing; or (2) your SD card is full; or (3) your SD card is not working properly. When you come across the above situations, please take the following steps:
(1) check if your SD card is properly installed and mounted
(2) check if your SD card is full
(3) if you already have some music or photos stored in your SD card, play or view them from your SD card to check if your SD card is working properly. If you need further assistance, please contact us .

If you have non-DRMed books in the following formats: lit, pdf, mobi, rtf, txt, html, fb2, prc**, odt, cbr and cbz, you can use a free software called Calibre to convert any of the above formats to ePub and then import your books into Aldiko. You can get Calibre from here http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net/. If need assistance for doing that, please feel free to let us know.
